“This song is actually based on a truly sweat-inducing, real-life experience I had recently when I went to another city on an errand (lol). I was relying on my car’s navigation system, but the map hadn’t been updated in over ten years and was completely useless! On top of that, the city had undergone major redevelopment in the last decade, so the route to my destination was completely uncharted. And to top it all off, I was on a tight schedule with a time limit… In the end, I zoomed the navigation display way out to its widest scale just to see the general direction of a major landmark. From there, it was all down to my own intuition, past experience, and the single-minded thought that ‘I can’t turn back now, I just have to push forward!’ I tried to capture in this song that feeling of making critical judgments under extreme pressure, the importance of trusting your inner voice (your ‘signal’), and that almost defiant, ‘no-other-way-but-forward’ energy, all set to a thrilling big band sound. I’d be absolutely thrilled if people could enjoy this as a soundtrack when they’re tackling something new or facing a tough challenge, and if it could give them even a little bit of courage.”
